Funko has lost the rights to create Five Nights at Freddy's action figures and plushes to Squishmallows creators Jazwares, reports horror reporter and content creator JonnyBlox on X/Twitter. Some popular product lines like FNAF Funko Pops and Mystery Minis will continue to be produced, it seems - but Five Nights at Freddy's action figures and plushes from Funko are out of the question now that Jazwares is producing them.
Creator and developer of the official FNAF spinoff series POPGOES retweeted the original post by JonnyBlox to clarify that Jazwares does not have the exclusive license to make FNAF action figures and plushes. Other companies, like Youtooz and Hex, will continue to make plushies for Five Nights at Freddy's - Funko is the only company that is impacted by the changes to licensing.
Back in May 2024, Jazwares and Scottgames announced that Jazwares would be Five Nights at Freddy's master toy licensee, and would release a Five Nights at Freddy's collection including plushies, action figures, playsets, plushes, and various other toys. The collection is planned to hit shelves in 2025. Some fans speculate that Jazwares could create Squishmallows - their best-known and most popular products - of Five Nights at Freddy's characters from the main games.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s has taken the gaming world by storm, and as master toy licensee, Jazwares has the tremendous opportunity to further connect with fans of the games and immerse them in the series like never before,” Judd Karofsky, Executive Vice President of Jazwares, said when the collaboration was first announced.
The changes may have a pretty big impact on Funko's Five Nights at Freddy's merch section. Funko currently has 31 Five Nights at Freddy's action figures available on their site, as well as 18 plushes. Together, the two categories make up over half - roughly 64% - of all the 77 total FNAF products on the company's site. (It's unknown whether items in certain categories on Funko's site, like "Vinyl Figures," will continue to be produced through Funko, or if they are included under the licensing changes.)
