The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie is set to release in December 2025, according to an update to Universal's "Upcoming Films" webpage. The exact release date for the upcoming film is 5 December 2025. With a release date towards the end of this year and during the Christmas season, fans will only need to wait a little under a year to check out the brand new FNAF 2 movie in theaters or on streaming services.
The first FNAF movie was released to widespread acclaim back in October 2023, smashing box office records and expectations. Blumhouse, the movie's producers, said they'd come back for a second film if the first one was successful, and that's exactly what they're doing. Filming on the second movie started this summer in New Orleans, the same place where the first film was made.
Matthew Lillard, who played Springtrap in the first film and will reprise his role in the second, posted a teaser for the upcoming movie on Instagram featuring a photo of him in his Springtrap suit. "December 2025," he wrote, "I always come back."
Matthew Lillard announced after the first FNAF movie that he signed a three-film contract, so it's possible that a third FNAF movie could be in the works after the second one's release. For now, there's no further news surrounding another possible film after the second one. Blumhouse is currently also working on a Dead by Daylight movie, which would adapt the popular 4v1 for the big screen.
