Filming will begin on the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 Movie in July 2024, according to a Productionlist page about the upcoming project. Like the first FNAF Movie, FNAF 2 will be shot in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Blumhouse and series creator Scott Cawthon decided to make a 2nd Five Nights at Freddy's film after the second was a massive box office success, breaking records - though little is known about the upcoming project at this time.
The Productionlist page for Five Nights at Freddy's 2 also contains a synopsis of the movie: "Recently fired and desperate for work so that he can keep custody of his little sister, Mike agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike soon discovers that nothing at Freddy’s is what it seems. Mike’s nights at Freddy’s will lead him into unexplainable encounters with the supernatural and drag him into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare."
This sounds a lot like the first movie so far, and that's likely because the movie's producers want to avoid giving away too much information about the film so early in production. While this doesn't provide a ton of new information about the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie, it's still definitely good news for fans, since it more or less confirms the project and could mean we'll see the movie hit streaming services - and/or theaters - sooner than expected. A late 2025 to mid-2025 release date seems more and more possible.
The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 movie isn't the only major project that Blumhouse, the studio behind the first Five Nights at Freddy's Movie - and set to make the second one - is working on. Blumhouse is also currently set to produce the Dead by Daylight movie. However, that film seems well behind the upcoming FNAF 2 movie, since producers recently mentioned that they are still actively looking for a director and screenwriter.
