As you dive into Enshrouded, it can be overwhelming to determine which resources are necessary early on. Stone remains one you'll have to use regularly, but it can be a bit difficult to come by as you're getting situated in the very beginning. We'll go over the best ways to gather stone early on in Enshrouded so you can get to crafting and exploring for more valuable resources.
How to Gather Stone in Enshrouded
The easiest way to gather stone consistently will be with a pickaxe, but you'll need stone as well as some twigs and string to actually craft one. In order to gather stone without a pickaxe, you want to look for small rocks like seen in the above image.
These don't require any tools, and simply collecting the rock will dismantle it and gain you a few stone. You can get twigs from trees or leafless wooden bushes, and leafy bushes will give you plant fiber to craft string. Together, that'll give you the pickaxe to really ramp up your stone gathering.
The best two ways to stock up after that will be by breaking large boulders around your environment which will shatter and drop a bunch of stone. You can also gather a significant amount of stone by using the pickaxe to terraform the ground.
You'll find that almost all of your Enshrouded environment is breakable, and entire chunks of land can be destroyed and burrowed into with the pickaxe. You'll also get dirt, rubble, and other resources depending on where you're destroying the land, but stone is common in some of the land around Longkeep in the earliest part of Enshrouded.
Once you do have a good regular supply of stone, consider crafting a new Flame Altar or two. Placing these in spaced out locations on the map will help you have a safe haven nearby and be able to fast travel, but try not to go overboard as you may also keep resources and enemies from spawning if an area is too protected.
