If you wanna get your selection ready for a friend who might come over to play in split screen or just want every possible option for your own battles, there are a few different ways to unlock every character in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. We'll go over the details on how to unlock all Sparking Zero characters here including the fastest way for players who want a full roster as quickly as possible.
How to Unlock Every Character in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
In order to unlock the entire Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster, you're going to have to spend time in a few different game modes. Multiple characters can be unlocked in specific Episode Battles, and a few are also unlockable with Bonus Battles found in Custom Battle.
For players who have built up a good supply of Zeni for various reasons, almost every character in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero can be purchased with Zeni once you've reached a specific Player Level. Winning each of the offline tournaments in Sparking Zero for the first time will also unlock a character.
Here, we've separated out unlockable characters by method so that players can have a clear idea of where to focus for the majority of character unlocks. With a little work, you can unlock nearly every character without spending Zeni.

You'll want to be careful to avoid damage and be defensive as much as possible en route to the final clash with Cell, or you'll be so low on health that defeating him becomes nearly impossible.

Cost of Every Character Unlockable at Player Level 20
- Fused Zamasu - 120,000 Zeni
- Goku Black - 75,000 Zeni
The total cost of purchasing the Player Level 20 character is 195,000 Zeni. If you want to purchase every single character, it would cost 3,285,000 Zeni. However, just mass purchasing won't necessarily be the best option to unlock everyone in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero quickly. With a higher Player Level for several, you'll need to spend time in other areas to reach that benchmark anyways and will unlock several characters laong the way.
Fastest Way to Unlock All Characters in Sparking Zero
Finally, let's take a broader look at the landscape of unlockable characters in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero to see the quickest path players can take. If you haven't yet gotten the game, purchasing the Ultimate Edition will definitely speed things up as you'll get a Super Shenron wish and be able to access Fused Zamasu and Goku Black after finishing Goku's Episode Battle arc instead of waiting until you reach Player Level 20.
If you've already got decent skills from match to match and a good grasp on all the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero controls, start in World Tournament. You can put the CPU Level on Weak if needed, and winning each tournament will net a signfificant amount of Zeni in addition to unlocking new characters and building up your Player Level.
Finish up the Bonus Battles you feel comfortable with. Most of the one-on-one battles aren't too hard, but others have you facing several characters and can be quite tough to win. All the characters linked to Zen-Oh's Orders can be sped up if you use them in the offline tournaments, but in either case just remember you don't have to win. Losing multiple battles will still rack up the numbers you need.
Next, start with Goku's Episode Battles and you'll get to "Vegeta's Secret Maneuver" early on. You need to get to the Majin Buu arc for the Uub battle, and Goku's Strength is the final battle at the end of Goku's Episode Battles against Jiren. You'll need to choose "Work with Piccolo" in the episode "The Earth's Mightiest Duo?!" and then defeat Raditz quickly to get to "Pushing the Limit" and unlock Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta.
Vegeta's Episode Battles have a few which shouldn't take too long. Cui's mission is very early, and The Long-Awaited Battle is a bit later in the Majin Buu arc. You'll need to choose "Shake Off Brainwashing" and win subsequent battles to reach "Number One Spot" and get Goku (GT).
When you hit Gohan's Episode Battles, you'll find "Combined Power" fairly early. In "Chaos at the World Tournament," choose to attempt to stop the fight when Videl is being attacked. Get to the Majin Buu arc for "Lust For Power," and lastly you'll get Pan in the Golden Frieza arc much later.
You'll unlock Nail fairly early in Piccolo's Episode Battles, and Android 17 is found just a bit later. Future Trunks' Episode Battles include one against Zamasu earlier in the arcs and the final battle against Toppo at the Tournament of Power.
Frieza's Episode Battles will include several characters and is one of the more challenging paths. For Cooler, you need to defeat Goku on Namek before he can become a Legendary Super Saiyan. Mecha Frieza is fairly early against Future Trunks, and Dyspo is near the end at the Tournament of Power. King Cold is difficult as you'll need to defeat Goku and Vegeta in Super Saiyan Blue pretty quickly and then must choose King Cold as your teammate. Lastly, you can only unlock Jiren's Episode Battles after finishing Goku's and will find "Goku's Mentor" early in that arc.
The path you take with these will need to take into account your own skill level, as things like finishing Goku's entire arc or reaching some of the branching path Episode Battles can be very difficult. If you get stuck on any Episode Battle, you can either lower the difficulty to progress or just decide to buy the characters linked to that with Zeni. With all these details in mind, you can fill out the Sparking Zero roster in no time.
