The Sparklepony Runs Into Diablo 4 & Some Fans Are Not Happy

Blizzard has unleashed the Celestial Steed in Diablo 4 in celebration of the upcoming WoW expansion, and fans think the devs could have done better.

Often referred to by World of Warcraft (WoW) players as the Sparklepony, the Celestial Steed has entered Diablo 4's world of Sanctuary thanks to a cross-game promotion in celebration of the upcoming expansion launch of The War Within.

The Born of the Stars bundle, which includes the Celestial Steed mount, Celestial Firmament armor, as well as the Sphere of Azeroth and Starlight Banner trophies, will set you back 2,500 Platinum at Tejal's Shop. The real-life price of 2,500 Platinum in Diablo 4 is currently around the $25 mark.

A description of the Born of the Stars bundle reads:

Amidst the chaos of the Twisting Nether, a band of stars coalesce - at first a constellation, then a shimmering steed, she gallops across the darkened skies, delighting all who see her.

Sounds cool, right? Well, does it sound $25 cool? That's more than a third of the price of a AAA title at launch.

On Reddit, the Celestial Steed in Diablo 4, and its price, has been the topic of discussion, and it appears fans aren't happy with the asking price, and think Blizzard could have done more for this WoW / Diablo 4 crossover. One fan commented:

Imagine if it is a tiny event with farmable cosmetics instead of $25 per pop…

Another fan noted how the Blizzard they kew back in the day was dead, stating:

How do they figure out to do the worst thing possible nobody wants? The blizzard we grew up with is dead.

Some fans even discussed a solution and suggestion on what, for myself, sounds like a great plan:

Would've been f$#king dope for a WoW Raid Boss to appear as a random daily World Boss in D4. And vice-versa have a D4 Boss show up in WoW. Both could've dropped in-game currencies to buy special armors/transmogs/weapons from the other game.

While there is no gameplay advantage to purchasing the Celestial Steed and adding the whole Sparklepony to your stable, it would have been nice to see a little real crossover event of some kind instead of just slapping this iconic mount into a bundle, with the only way of acquiring it is opening your wallet.
