Dead by Daylight fans have long regarded Shelter Woods as the game's "worst map," with players pointing out that there are hardly any noteworthy landmarks in the environment and that many of the loops around the map are weak, making it unbalanced. This negative reputation might just change, however, with Dead by Daylight's new Tools of Torment chapter, as The Skull Merchant brings with her some major edits to the Shelter Woods Map.
In the Chapter 27 - Tools of Torment PTB released on 15th February 2023, players have spotted Behaviour's new changes to the map. The large building in the center was once a largely empty warehouse, but now Behaviour has converted it into a new Hunting Camp for The Skull Merchant complete with fresh new graphics.
This high-tech new area resembles something out of Epic Games' Fortnite, with bright purple LEDs, robotic technology, and a working computer screen. Upstairs is an orange diner area complete with bottles and seating. Outside the warehouse are several gory dead bodies standing up, suggesting that Dead by Daylight might be listening to fans' requests for more gore in Dead by Daylight.
While fan opinions on the new Chapter 27 - Tools of Torment are overall mixed, the Shelter Woods changes have been pretty well-received so far; after all, the map has been in need of balance changes and visual updates for a long time.
