Dead By Daylight's Skull Merchant has only been out for a few months now, but the game's original sci-fi killer has stirred up some tension in the community. Many players have called her "OP" and called for a change - and it seems that developers are finally working on that much-requested Skull Merchant rework, according to a recent Reddit AMA.
By placing her Drones strategically around the map, Skull Merchant can force survivors off of generators, dominating the entire map from a distance. Many players have complained that this killer is too strong at holding down generators with her Drones this way, as it allows her to control matches and either win them with ease or make them drag on for long periods of time.
One player asked Dead by Daylight's developers about whether a Skull Merchant rework was in the works during a 7 September Reddit AMA, pointing out that they're sick of games being held hostage "just because the killer can."
Matt S., Dead by Daylight Design Director, replied, "We are certainly aware that the Skull Merchant is very good at locking down generators in certain situations. We have a big rework planned for a future release."
He added that there are more details already in place but that the team isn't ready to reveal it all yet, and more information will be coming soon. It's unclear what Skull Merchant's rework will entail and whether it will contain major changes to the killer's Drone ability or give her an entirely new approach to killing survivors. However, players will likely only have to wait until the next update to hear information about the changes coming to this popular new killer.
