Every few months, Behaviour Interactive releases a Player Satisfaction Survey containing questions about users' experiences playing Dead by Daylight and their opinions on the game. The most recent survey, released on 21st December 2022, contained a few new questions that raised some eyebrows; in particular, it mentioned a PVE mode, something Dead by Daylight has never seen before.
Let's discuss what Behaviour hinted at in the survey regarding a potential new PVE mode coming to the game, and what brand new features we believe might be coming soon thanks to the team's hints.
Update 1 June 2023 - We've checked for the latest news and information regarding PVE potentially being added to Dead by Daylight!
Latest News
Dead by Daylight announced that a PVE game is coming soon from Midwinter Games. It will take place in the Entity's Realm.
What would PVE look like in Dead By Daylight?
Dead by Daylight is known for its iconic four-versus-one asymmetrical gameplay, in which four survivors are pitted against one killer during each trial. The survivors do their best to repair five generators and escape the trial, while the killer attempts to - you guessed it - end their lives by hooking them on sacrificial hooks before they can do so.
A PVE mode, as the survey suggested, would likely switch up Dead by Daylight's core gameplay mechanics. Perhaps a team of four or even five survivors could team up against an AI-controlled killer, attempting to escape the trial before they meet their end.
It seems likely that Dead by Daylight could add more AI-controlled enemies or NPCs in the future, given the success of The Nemesis' zombies, which use AI to locate survivors and attack them, and the newly added survivor AI bots used in custom matches.
While Dead by Daylight's surveys are only speculative, they tend to contain some pretty interesting information about what might be to come in Dead by Daylight; for example, For Honor appeared as an option for 'franchises users would like to see' on a survey months before the Forged In Fog chapter was added to the game.
We were certainly surprised to see the mention of a possible PVE mode in the most recent Player Satisfaction Survey, but it's uncertain as to whether Behaviour Interactive will ultimately bring new game modes to Dead by Daylight. We will make sure to be the first to let you know if Behaviour offers any further updates or information on the topic.
