Dead by Daylight bugs and glitches can be frustrating, and one of the most common of them, alongside Error Code 8012, is the infamous "infinite initialization" error. Players that face this bug cannot open Dead by Daylight past the title screen, and won't be able to enter any trials or play the game. This bug happens to players on PC and consoles alike.

If you're wondering how to resolve it and hop back into your DBD trials as soon as possible, you're in luck. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to fix this pesky infinite initialization error in Dead by Daylight.

Dead by Daylight's "infinite initialization" error is, unfortunately, usually not something that fans can fix on their own. Instead, it's usually a server-side issue, whether it's specific to your platform or the game itself. This means that you'll need to wait for Dead by Daylight's developers to resolve the issue before you're able to play the game again.

It's worth noting that weekly Steam maintenance takes place at 7 PM ET on Tuesdays and may last for up to an hour, so Steam players may face issues playing during this time. If it happens to be around 7-8 PM EST on Tuesday when you're facing an initialization error, you might consider waiting a little longer before opening the game again.

The infinite initialization error isn't always a DBD-sided problem, though; sometimes it's client-side, especially if you haven't restarted your game in a while.

Of course, you can always try restarting your game or console - or, if that doesn't work, you may want to uninstall and reinstall your game entirely. This can be time-consuming, though, so you may want to try waiting a while to see if it's a problem on Dead by Daylight's end before you spend time reinstalling your game altogether.

DBD's infinite initialization issue, is, unfortunately usually a problem on the developers' end rather than one that players can fix on their own. However, there are some fixes that might work. While there isn't always an easy fix for Dead by Daylight's initialization error, we hope that this guide can help you resolve the problem if it happens to be an issue with your platform's storage.
