Cosmetics in Dead by Daylight have long been split into three categories: those that can be bought with real-world money using Auric Cells, those that can be earned through gameplay with the special currency Iridescent Shards, and those that can be purchased either way.
While anyone could earn up enough Iridescent Shards to buy those cosmetics, not everyone can purchase Auric Cells.
Thankfully, there is good news for players who can’t or don’t want to purchase Auric Cells. Starting in the near future, Dead by Daylight will make all cosmetics purchasable with Iridescent Shards shortly after they are released, and existing cosmetics will be grandfathered in. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming change.
Dead By Daylight Cosmetics Will Be Purchasable With Iridescent Shards
Starting today, 13th September, the Dead by Daylight team will begin adding Iridescent Shard prices to all non-licensed outfits that users could only purchase with Auric Cells before.
The change will come in batches, with small groups of characters' cosmetics' Iridescent Shard prices being added at a time. The first to change will be Dwight, Claudette, Jake, and Meg, the game's four original survivors.

In the future, any newly released non-licensed outfits will also be purchasable through Iridescent Shards as well as Auric Cells. Cosmetics will initially release with only an Auric Cells price, and will receive an Iridescent Shards price after four weeks in the shop.
This way, users can purchase any cosmetics they're excited about on or around the release day with Auric Cells; otherwise, you can wait to purchase them with Iridescent Shards.
Dead by Daylight announced the change on their Twitter, where they will likely provide further updates as the new system develops.
