Dead by Daylight's 6th-anniversary broadcast has been long-awaited by fans, as the anniversary livestreams always come with a huge announcement.
The 6th broadcast aired on 17th May 2022, and outlined plans for Dead by Daylight's upcoming year. Here's everything we learned from Dead by Daylight's 6th-anniversary chapter broadcast.
Dead by Daylight - Resident Evil "Project W"
Dead by Daylight's team announced that they will partner with Resident Evil again, following the first Resident Evil chapter released last year featuring Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and The Nemesis.
- Dead by Daylight matchmaking test results - Upcoming changes
- Dead by Daylight's Haddonfield map receiving major updates
- Dead by Daylight codes (May 2022) - Free Bloodpoints and more
The new project will be called "Project W," but no more information has been announced about what it may contain.
Dead by Daylight - 6th-anniversary chapter
As we previously posted with sources from a reputable dataminer, the 6th-anniversary chapter is called Roots of Dread and will feature a new killer, a new survivor, and a new map.
The new killer is The Dredge, which has the ability to teleport between lockers and eventually trap survivors in deep darkness, making it harder for them to navigate the map.
The new survivor, Haddie Kaur, is an Indian psychic investigator whose perks focus on blinding the killer and repairing generators more quickly. The new map features a garden layout with new loops and is called the Garden of Joy. Players can play Haddie Kaur or The Dredge on the PTB 5.8.0 starting 17th May 2022.
Dead by Daylight - Hooked on You dating sim
Dead by Daylight has announced that a Dead by Daylight dating simulator is coming this summer. The non-canon simulator will be entitled Hooked on You and will feature four of the game's original killer characters: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Spirit, and The Huntress. The game will be developed by Psyop, which has developed other dating sims in the past.
Dead by Daylight - Mori updates
Behaviour Interactive has repeatedly teased changes to Dead by Daylight's Mori system, and those updates are finally coming to the game around October, say developers. With the update, players will no longer be able to play Moris as offerings.
Instead, a Mori will instantly take place at the end of the game. When the final survivor is downed, they would then be transported to another clear area where the killer can instantly Mori them.
"No longer will your Mori moment be 'censored' by inconveniently placed objects or invasive bushes," said the game's official announcement. "All attention will be placed entirely on the action taking place."
Dead by Daylight - Perk and prestige updates
Dead by Daylight's team announced that around 40 perks that are currently considered "META" will be updated in the near future, essentially overhauling perks as they are.
The following killer and survivor perks will certainly be changed, the team said, but they are not the only perks that will see changes:
- BBQ & Chili
- Corrupt Intervention
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance
- Hex: Ruin
- Pop Goes the Weasel
- Dead Hard
- Borrowed Time
- Decisive Strike
- Iron Will
- Self-Care
Because some of the game's most popular perks will see an overhaul, it's likely that these massive changes will uproot the game's current meta.
Dead by Daylight - Quality of life updates
The anniversary broadcast also came with the announcement of multiple quality of life updates to Dead by Daylight's UI and gameplay.
Players will be able to save multiple perk loadouts, allowing them to easily switch between different sets of perks they use often.
Dead by Daylight will also implement matchmaking incentives, allowing players to earn bonus Bloodpoints for playing a side that is more needed at that time. For example, if significantly more killers are online than survivors, players could receive a bonus for playing as Survivor.
Lastly, Dead by Daylight says that they plan on bringing bots to custom matches. This would allow players to experiment with new killers or perks in a non-competitive environment, or fill up a lobby if a group is short one or two people.
Dead by Daylight - In-game outfits and merchandise
Dead by Daylight will partner with Attack on Titan to create a ten-part Attack on Titan cosmetic collection. So far, Dwight Fairfield will appear as Eren, with Zarina Kassir as Hange and The Oni as the Armored Titan.
Also, new merchandise is coming; fans will be able to purchase Funko Pops of The Wraith, The Huntress, The Doctor, and Claudette Morel soon.
Dead by Daylight Mobile update
Dead by Daylight's mobile game will also receive some updates.
The changes will be as follows:
- Leaderboards
- New rewards
- Friends lists
- UI updates
That's everything that Behaviour Interactive discussed during the Dead by Daylight 6th anniversary broadcast.
