Dead by Daylight has a myriad of iconic original characters amongst a slew of licensed stars; some of the game's best original characters are The Legion, a group of four reckless and murderous teenagers. They joined the Fog alongside Jeff Johansen, an artist who, like the four members of The Legion, hails from the small snowy town of Ormond.
Here are our thoughts on the Darkness Among Us chapter in 2023, and whether The Legion and Jeff Johansen are still worth purchasing.
Dead By Daylight Darkness Among Us Chapter Review
The Legion, the killer in the Darkness Among Us Chapter, actually isn't just one killer, but four of them, as the name implies. Players can swap between Frank and Julie using the characters' base cosmetics, and can play as the other members of the Legion, Susie and Frank, by purchasing their respective costumes (of which there are several). While the differences between the group's four members are entirely visual, they're enough to draw your interest to the character's personalities. (They're so distinct, in fact, that The Legion's story has even earned itself a comic book adaptation.)
The Legion's ability is called Feral Frenzy; when activated, they can move at a much faster rate than usual, and can vault over windows. When hitting a survivor while in Feral Frenzy, that survivor will be affected with Deep Wound, and any nearby survivors are illuminated with Killer Instinct. If you manage to hit four survivors with Deep Wound, your fourth hit will immediately down the survivor, allowing the Legion to have a sort of "built-in Exposed" effect.
This power is simple and fast - stab one survivor, move to another, rinse and repeat. It's approachable for beginners, while veterans can focus on mastering the intricacies of this high-speed ability. Beginners also won't need to worry about finding survivors, save for finding one to get that first hit, since your ability will help you know exactly where they are. You can then spend time learning to master your chase, since you've got that first hit taken care of.
Overall, I'd recommend The Legion's playstyle to pretty much anyone, whether they're just getting into DBD or a true veteran who's played from the beginning. There's a lot of room to grow with these characters, and a lot of room to experiment. With The Legion's add-ons, players can tweak their playstyle even further.
Both The Legion and their survivor counterpart, Jeff Johansen, have perks that are definitely worth running. Discordance provides great tracking, letting you know when survivors are on generators; while not the best perk for the Legion themselves, it's a great pick for most other killers. Jeff Johansen's most stand-out perk is no doubt Distortion, which will prevent the killer from seeing your aura multiple times per match.
