Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface, also known as Bubba Sawyer or 'The Cannibal' in-game, will allegedly be leaving Dead by Daylight's fog sometime soon, according to recent leaks published by members of the community in early January 2023.
Leaks found by known Dead by Daylight leaker DBDLeaks showed a code from the current Public Test Build with spaces for alternative names for The Cannibal's three unique perks. No specific new names for the perks were mentioned in the code, but the leaker mentioned that the new perk names would only show for those that do not own the Leatherface chapter.
Developers released a statement on their Twitter surrounding the rumors that Leatherface might be leaving the game, stating that Bubba isn't going anywhere any time soon.
"Leatherface is staying?" One user asked. "Yes," Behaviour replied.
The leaks suggest that the Leatherface DLC would receive the same treatment as the Stranger Things DLC after Behaviour Interactive lost its license. Players who already own Leatherface, known in-game as The Cannibal, will be able to continue to play him after he is removed from the game, but he will no longer be available for purchase in the store.
On 6th January 2023, DBDLeaks posted in the DBDLeaks Discord server announcing that Bubba would be removed from Dead by Daylight in the next few months. "I've got confirmation that Bubba is 100% leaving Dead by Daylight," they said in the server's dedicated leaks channel.
While there's no way of knowing whether any leak is truly 100% true as the leaker claims, DBDLeaks has accurately predicted many Dead by Daylight releases in the past, even leaking the 6th-anniversary killer, survivor, map, and perks several weeks before The Dredge's official release last year.
It makes sense that Dead by Daylight might lose their license to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, considering a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is slated for release soon, and it will no doubt feature Bubba. The upcoming game features 4v1 gameplay similar to Dead by Daylight, suggesting that the owners of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre might want to keep their character to themselves. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is set for release later this year.
While some players might be ecstatic about the end of basement camping Bubbas, others will undoubtedly be sad to see this horror icon leave the fog after his years of taking down survivors. Only time will tell if the leaks are true and if Behaviour Interactive will really lose the license to Leatherface, so stay tuned right here for more information.
