4 September 2024 - We've updated the page to reflect any recent changes to perks and abilities in Patch 8.2.1 that might impact the best Hillbilly builds in Dead by Daylight.

The Hillbilly was one of the first killers ever to be added to the 4v1 asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight, and he's seen a lot of changes to his Chainsaw and power over the years. He can zoom across the map using his chainsaw and insta-down survivors upon contact. HIs ability is incredibly powerful, but because he's so speedy, good Hillbilly plays take a lot of skill to pull off.

Here is your guide to playing The Hillbilly in Dead by Daylight. We will go over his power and perks, the best loadouts for this killer, and how you can use our top loadouts to win more games.

The Hillbilly Power & Perks in DBD

Before we delve into the best builds for The Hillbilly, let's look at this killer's power and teachable perks, so you know what you're working with. First, here are The Hillbilly's three teachable perks:

Perk: Enduring

  • The duration of all pallet stuns is reduced.

Perk: Lightborn

  • You are much more resistant to blindness. You are immune to being blinded by any means.

Perk: Tinkerer

  • When a generator is repaired to 75%, you receive a Loud Noise notification, and your Terror Radius vanishes for a short period of time.

Power: The Chainsaw

The Trapper's power is called The Chainsaw. The in-game description reads as follows:

  • A hulking and deadly Chainsaw of terrifying strength. Grinds through flesh, bone, and soul. Once revved up, sends its user into a violent frenzy.
  • Break into a crazed Sprint upon activation.
  • Survivors hit by the Chainsaw are automatically put into the Dying State.

Best Hillbilly Builds In Dead By Daylight

The Trapper was the first killer to be added to Dead by Daylight, so his ability is pretty simple. Many different perks work well on him, depending on which aspects of gameplay you most enjoy.

As such, there are many different ways you can play this killer. Here are just a few of the top Trapper builds that you can try.

Beginner Hillbilly Build

If you are just getting started as a new Hillbilly main, it might be hard to decide what aspects of gameplay you want your build to focus on. This well-rounded beginner Hillbilly loadout will help you find your footing and get a feel for playing this killer.

  • Whispers
  • No One Escapes Death
  • Tinkerer (The Hillbilly)
  • Jolt

All of the perks included in this build are general perks, meaning they either come by default with The Hillbilly or can be found in the Bloodweb of all killers without prestiging or reaching level 50.

The Hillbilly is an incredibly fast killer, making Whispers useful on him; if you're in a dead zone, you'll immediately know and be able to zoom across the map closer to the survivors' locations. Tinkerer will allow you to locate generators when they are nearly finished and sneak up on survivors who are working on them.

Jolt, meanwhile, provides extra regression on generators with little effort on your part. Because Hillbilly is a slow killer when he isn't using his ability, No One Escapes Death gives him an extra, needed boost at the end of the game and allows him to earn insta-downs even without his chainsaw.

All-Knowing Hillbilly Build in Dead By Daylight

The Hillbilly is fast when using his power, but this burst of speed isn't very useful if he isn't able to actually find survivors. The All-Knowing Hillbilly build will help you keep track of survivors' locations consistently so you know where to be at all times throughout the trial.

  • BBQ & Chili (The Cannibal)
  • Bitter Murmur
  • Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage (The Onryo)
  • Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis)

Lethal Pursuer will allow you to see the survivors at the beginning of the match, giving you an early-game advantage, and it will also extend the length of other aura-reading perks like your Scourge Hook, BBQ, and Bitter Murmur.

The remaining three perks in your build show you survivors' auras at varying times, ensuring that you never miss a beat. Bitter Murmur shows survivors who just completed a generator, BBQ & Chili shows your survivors across the map after you earn a hook, and your Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage shows you auras after survivors unhook from a Scourge Hook.
