How to Unlock Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale

With the arrival of new expansion The Storybook Vale for Disney Dreamlight Valley, tons of additional content has been added in every area of that region. Once players settle in with some of the earliest tasks, it'll be time to start unlocking the new characters added in this DLC.

If you're a Hercules fan, you can get his villainous counterpart added to your lineup of villagers. After solving and completing his trial, Hades will be unlocked in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale.

How to Get Hades in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once players have wrapped up construction on staples like Goofy's Stall and Scrooge McDuck's Store in The Bind, it'll take just 2,000 Story Magic to unlock access to The Elysian Fields. This region, inspired by the afterlife of the same name where the heroic and virtuous rest in Greek mythology, will clear your path to Hades.

Once unlocked, you should get the quest "A Land of Myths and Legends" from Merida. Explore and find this little area shown above, which is at the southern end of The Elysian Fields. Go chat with The Lorekeeper about it, and meet Merida back there to catch some not quite kinda sorta Will-o'-the-Wisps. You just need to follow two of these and tap the button to interact once close.

When you return to the gateway, interact with the metal torches on each side and deposit the Blue Flame (sort of Will-o'-the-Wisp item) from your inventory. Enter the Mythic Trial to kickoff the quest that'll unlock Hades.

Once you're in the trial, speak to Hades to get things rolling. You can interact with the cart and send it up to the gate, but it won't be able to pass through yet. Cross the bridge to the right of that cart, and use your Royal Net (hold then release) to rotate the bridge until you can head north towards the next step.

Cross over to the other side with the stairs, then interact with the lever to lower a bridge. Clear out the rocks with your Royal Pickaxe, then use the Royal Net on the wheel to open the gates. Interact with the cart again to move forward in the trial. Follow Hades, and you'll reach a small scroll with a clue that means you'll need the Royal Fishing Rod. Fish in the ripples, and a bridge will come to the surface.

Using your Royal Net, rotate these bridges as well. If you rotate with the stairs to the right, you can clear a few rocks and open a chest. When you're ready, rotate it until the stairs face north and continue on. Follow the path until you find another lever to lower a bridge.

Do this again on the other side, and you'll be able to reach another wheel which can open the gates once hit with the Royal Net. Make sure to hit that second lever to raise the northmost bridge and clear a path for the cart before you try to push it. Continue on, talk to Hades, and interact to use your magic and clear the inkies in the torch.

Chat with Hades again once you return to The Elysian Fields, and he'll ask you to get his house in place. Scrooge can take care of this, but you'll need to pay him 10,000 coins. Once construction is finished, Hades will appear in the same way others have and give you a photo op. This officially unlocks Hades and makes him one of your villagers, and there are plenty of friendship quests to tackle next in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale.
