How to Get Jack Skellington in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The latest free update to Disney Dreamlight Valley has introduced Jack Skellington, but you'll have to put in the work to get this Nightmare Before Christmas legend into the valley. Just like every other new addition, you'll then have to make friends and get Jack Skellington settled in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

However, many players are running into issues where the necessary Matryoshka Dolls aren't appearing. We'll break down everything you need to do in Disney Dreamlight Valley to get the Matryoshka Dolls and Jack Skellington.

What if Matryoshka Dolls are not spawning in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

If you've already advanced quite a ways into Disney Dreamlight Valley, you'll likely become aware of the Jack Skellington quest Something Comes A'Knocking when spotting a Matryoshka Doll in the Valley. If you can't find even a single Matryoshka Doll in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it's probably because you haven't progressed far enough elsewhere in the game.

To get Jack Skellington, you'll have to finish several other quests and need access to every biome in the Valley, which will take a lot of Dreamlight. You'll meet Jack Skellington in the Forgotten Lands, but to do so you'll have to finish the lengthy Forgotten Memories quest with Fairy Godmother. Except, to do that you also need to have finished the quest with Olaf in the Frosted Heights.

There's a lengthy trickle-down effect of things you'll need to have completed first, but keep in mind that the Matryoshka Dolls won't even begin to spawn until you've completed all of this. For us, as soon as the Forgotten Memories quest with Fairy Godmother was completed, the Matryoshka Dolls spawned.

Matryoshka Doll Locations

Once you've gotten the prerequisite quests done and the Matryoshka Dolls begin to appear, there's both good news and bad news about their location. The bad news is that Matryoshka Dolls do not have a fixed location, they can spawn all over the Valley and will change for every player and playthrough.

However, the good news is they seem to stick to one doll in a biome at any one time. For our playthrough, they were in the Plaza, Sunlit Plateau, Glade of Trust, and Dazzle Beach. If you've already found one in a particular biome or area, you probably want to search in a separate one for the next Matryoshka Doll.

If you have searched every biome and still can't find the last one, there are a few tricks that can help. First, actively remove things from the biomes with decoration mode. Even trees, which you can put back once you've found the doll. Also, for us the doll did appear while in decoration mode moving around the valley, but that may not happen until you've passed closely by the doll.

Finally, your last ditch effort should be to save and quit the game entirely. Close it out and relaunch the game from scratch, as some players have noticed the Matryoshka Dolls that remain will actually pick new locations if you reload the game. If you're worried one is stuck somewhere you can't find, try that and the methods mentioned above and you should be able to snag all four.

Complete Something Comes A'Knocking for Jack Skellington

Once you've acquired all four of the Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need to head to the Forgotten Lands. Look for a dark brown tree with a pumpkin carved into it, which should stand out as significantly different than the other trees in the Forgotten Lands.

The order with which you do this next step doesn't seem to matter, but you'll want to interact with the tree and place each of the Matryoshka Dolls in it. After all four have been placed, you'll get the Valley welcome animation at the Plaza like all other characters that join.

Speak to the newly arrived Jack Skellington, and you'll get the final task of making him feel more at home by placing his house. Use decoration mode to put it wherever you like, and interact with the Scrooge McDuck sign to pay him 5,000 Coins and get Skellington's house built. This will complete Something Comes A'Knocking, and you can now work on raising your friendship level and making Jack Skellington a key part of your Valley.
