In Disney Dreamlight Valley, Dream Shards are an important material that allows you to complete quests, thus befriending the locals. That said, despite their importance, Dream Shards aren’t exactly available in abundance. You’ll have to work to find and earn them.
As such, you should learn the best way to farm Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley to make the most of your time in the game.
Thankfully, we are here to help. Here is how to earn more Shards so you can have them to use and progress on your adventure.
How To Get Dream Shards In Disney Dreamlight Valley
There are a few different methods to earn Dream Shards, so you can decide which are best for you at this point in your adventure, or try all of them to maximize your gains. Some methods require more effort than others.
Knock Out Night Thorns
Night Thorns are scattered all over the village, blocking pathways and more. It's your job to destroy them, as Merlin tells you early on in the game. Thankfully, they're a way to get Dream Shards, too, though the spawn rate is relatively low. (Developers are working on a patch releasing this week to fix the issue.)

Night Thorns do sometimes grow back, so even though the spawn rate of Dream Shards from Night Thorns is quite low, you can farm one set of Night Thorns multiple times.
Welcome Gifts
This one’s a true freebie and requires no effort on your part to earn. Simply log in and you’ll find 40 Dream Shards in your mailbox as a gift for purchasing and playing the game.
Developers have given out bonus Dream Shards in the mailbox in the past, too, so keep an eye out for any little gifts that might come your way.
Feed and Tame Critters
Feeding and taming critters earns you some great rewards, including Dream Shards. You might earn other rewards when befriending creatures, too, like cosmetics or design patterns, so be sure to befriend as many critters as you can to get the most of what these little guys have to offer.
And those are all of the ways to earn Dream Shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Now, you can get out there and get all of the resources you need to complete your quests and level up your friendship with the valley’s locals.
