If you want to unlock any of the new baby dragon variants as a companion, it will take a little work to gather what is needed. First, players will have to finish early quests with Merida and get The Bind sorted with Goofy's Stall, Scrooge McDuck's Store, and Chez Remy. Once that is completed, it takes 2,000 story magic to clear the inkies and unlock a path into The Wild Woods. For those looking to get the new villagers, our guide to unlocking Flynn Rider will also take place in this area.

Once you can explore The Wild Woods, first make sure you've got the right foods. While they can eat most gems, the favorite food of baby dragons include Pure Ice, Shiny Pure Ice, Magma, and Shiny Magma. Pure Ice is a gem found while mining rock nodes in the Everafter region, including The Wild Woods. Similarly, Magma can be found by mining rocks in Mythopia, including The Elysian Fields.

Once you have the necessary food, approaching a baby dragon is not the easiest task. They're particularly shy. Carefully inch closer to one until you see them drop down, cover their face with their wings, and cower like shown in the image above. If you continue to approach while the baby dragon is in this position, it will remain scared and you'll have to walk away and return to restart this process. The second it goes into position, freeze and stay perfectly still until the shyness wears off. Players can now approach and feed a baby dragon their favorite food.

If you're having trouble finding one, it's likely because you're not there on the right day or time. Blue Baby Dragons are found in The Wild Woods all day from Tuesday to Friday. Green Baby Dragons are in The Fallen Fortress, but only from Sunday to Thursday between 10am and 6pm. Purple Baby Dragons appear in The Beanstalk Marshes every day from 12am to 12pm. Finally, Red Baby Dragons are in Teapot Falls all day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Bring each variety of baby dragon its favorite food a few times and soon you'll have some of the cutest creatures around The Storybook Vale as your companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
