In classic Valve fashion, the developer didn't officially announce the upcoming return of the iconic Train (de_train) map. Instead, the CS2 account on X (Twitter) was simply updated with a banner image showcasing some beautiful asphalt, and that's getting Counter-Strike 2 esports fans excited.
We can't blame them, however, as the Train map has a rich history stretching back to the original Counter-Strike BETA 5.0 released on 30 December 1999. That's almost 25 years!
One of the first to spot the change in banner and suspected Train tease was Gabe Follower, an account dedicated to sharing all the latest news, leaks, and rumors surrounding Valve games, including CS2.

Train is one of the only remaining original Counter-Strike maps that have not gotten the remake treatment in Source 2, and dataminers have found indications in the past months that Valve has added Train-related files.
Fans have been sharing their excitement and theories on Gabe Follower's tweet, and content creators are already jumping on the bandwagon as well.
I've checked with some of my sources but could not confirm any release date or even a launch window for Train or Cobblestone. However, I will keep my ear to the ground and let our readers know as soon as information becomes available. Wouldn't it be grand if Train gets released in CS2 during December, coinciding with it's 25-year anniversary? I'll leave that for you to decide...
