With a first for Team Spirit, and having taken on crowd favorites FaZe Clan, the Russian team have won the IEM Katowice 2024 Counter-Strike 2 tournament after an undeniably impressive performance.
Star of the show was none other than Team Spirit wonderkid Danil "donk" Kryshkovets who, at just 17 years old, received the ESLProTour DHL MVP award becoming the youngest player to be awarded the title at Katowice.
During a post-match press conference, when asked what the secret was to his skill, donk said, "There is no secret. It's just that my teammates are the best in the world."
Team Spirit achieved a 3:0 victory against FaZe Clan, who suffered arguably one of the worst defeats seen on the grand stage. Spirit not only walked away with the Champion's Trophy, but their share of the $1 million prize pool and their ticket to the IEM Cologne 2024.
The match was played as a Best of 5, however Spirit managed the feat in just three maps. The game began on Nuke (a FaZe pick), moved onto Spirit's own choice of Mirage, then finished up on Overpass.
