Team Spirit had a rather easy time of it in Group A, beating OG 2-0 and HEROIC 2-0, while Complexity sent OG and HEROIC packing in the lower bracket. For a spot in the BLAST Premier Fall Final, Spirit, and Complexity clashed in an exciting best-of-three series.
In a surprising turn of events, on Team Spirit's map pick of Dust2, it was too close to call despite an incredible four kills with Dualies in the opening round of the second half from Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, defending the A site.
In overtime, Team Spirit's AWPer, Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov, pulled off an insane four kills, three with the Big Green and one with the P250, to turn a 2v5 situation into a favorable round for Spirit, tying the score 15-15 and forcing double overtime.
Despite the heroics of Donk and sh1ro, Complexity pulled ahead and won Dust2 with a final score of 19-16.
On Complexity's map pick (Anubis), Team Spirit went into overdrive, smashing South African IGL, Johnny' "JT" Theodosiou's side with a convincing 13-6 win, forcing a third and deciding map of Nuke.
On Nuke, we saw Team Spirit's IGL, Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov, lead by example, scoring a beautiful four kills while Spirit was on the comeback path but still behind 10-6. The play definitely invigorated Team Spirit, as they clawed their way back to win Nuke 13-10 and complete the reverse sweep, beating Complexity 2-1.
With the win, Team Spirit moves on to the BLAST Fall Final 2024; congratulations!
