The GOAT of Counter-Strike, Ukrainian superstar Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, is going to play his very first Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) event soon, following a break that has lasted several months.
While s1mple is still under the Natus Vincere (Na'Vi) banner, he will play his first CS2 tournament with Falcons on loan from Na'Vi, and everyone's excited for the GOAT to return!
s1mple in CS2 Confirmed!
In a short but sweet post, Na'Vi explained the situation, stating:
Legendary NAVI player Oleksandr «s1mple» Kostyliev will temporarily suspend his inactive status for an upcoming tournament. Oleksandr will perform for Team Falcons for one month as a stand-in, including at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024, and try to help the team earn one of two slots at BLAST Spring Final.
s1mple took to Twitter (X) to thank Na'Vi for the opportunity and retweeted Team Falcons' post about him joining the squad on loan.
So where exactly will you see s1mple compete with Falcons in his first CS2 event? Well, it's BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2024, which is an online tournament running from 6 to 10 March 2024. Teams are competing for only two spots in the Spring Final.
Team Falcons had a rough run of things lately, getting eliminated from the Copenhagen Major RMR qualifiers and then benching Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas.
It's a great warmup for s1mple fans, as we learned a few weeks ago that the GOAT is set to officially return to CS2 pro play following the Copenhagen Major.
Will s1mple send fear into the hearts of his opponents and propel Team Falcons to victory? We can't wait to find out!
