NAVI Sweeps VP at BLAST Premier Spring Final: Full Semifinals Match Report

In the second semifinal of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 playoffs, in front of a crowd at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, NAVI went up against Virtus.pro, fighting for a coveted spot in the grand finale.

To earn a spot directly in the semifinals, NAVI topped Group A by shutting Astralis down with a 2-0 and beating FaZe Clan 2-1. The side is playing some incredible CS, the likes we haven't seen since the Major, according to IGL Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen. It was a wild ride for Virtus.pro, reverse-sweeping Vitality in the opening Group B match and then getting "donked" on by Team Spirit. In the quarterfinals, VP pulled off a 2-0 against Astralis to claim a spot in the semifinal.

NAVI vs. VP Map 1

On the T side of Anubis, NAVI took an early lead by pushing the B site and cleaning up VP with four players left alive. NAVI then pushed A site in the 2nd round and converted easily for a 2-0 lead on VP's map pick.

In VP's first gun round, NAVI stayed strong to claim three in a row, and VP responded with a tactical timeout. That didn't help Dzhami "Jame" Ali's side, as NAVI, with surgical precision, took another clean round. 

With speed and ferocity, and well-timed flanks, NAVI got six in a row, as the crowd at OVO Arena Wembley in London started to cheer "Let's go NAVI!" 

NAVI didn't take their feet off the pedal as Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen just couldn't make the wrong call, as they dumpstered VP with a 9-0 lead on the T side of Anubis. 

In the 10th round, VP finally looked like they had a chance, but with 3 kills in a post-plant situation, Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov crushed their hopes. VP could only muster one round. At the end of the first half of Anubis, NAVI was ahead 11-1, avoiding a 13-0 clean sheet.

As teams switched sides, VP got a bomb plant on the T side, but NAVI managed to clean it up and defuse it in time for a 12-1 lead. 

VP pulled one back in the 14th round and the 15th, then converted a against NAVI's eco to make the score 12-4 with NAVI still far in the lead. Despite VP's comeback efforts, NAVI closed out Anubis with a 13-5 scoreline.

NAVI vs. VP Map 2 Mirage

NAVI's Justinas "jL" Lekavičius said during a pre-match interview that VP are not going to get to a third map, and we were eager to see if that would turn out to be true. Well, NAVI kicked things off on the T side of Mirage with a 2-0 lead.

In the 4th round of Mirage, VP finally stood their ground to get on the board after a solid hold towards the A site. VP pulled another one back thanks to Dzhami "Jame" Ali's hyper-aggressive opening kills with the AWP.

NAVI responded with a win in the 6th round and another in the 7th to make the score 5-2 in their favor. In the 8th round, with VP on pistols, they stole it away from NAVI, but NAVI responded with a quick win to make it 6-3.

VP pushed for a 10th-round win and converted in the 11th to pull back two in a row. Then, Jame pulled off something special, preventing NAVI from planting the bomb in time to win the 12th round.  As the teams switched sides, it was as close as it could possibly get on Mirage with a scoreline of 6-6.

With NAVI on the CT side, they kicked off the second half of Mirage with style, demolishing VP in the pistol round with four left alive. Then, VP went for a full eco, which NAVI quickly cleaned up for an 8-6 lead.

VP responded with a solid win in the 15th round and slowed things down in the 16th. However, with perfect positioning from NAVI, they pulled off a solid defense, forcing VP to save. NAVI now had a 9-7 lead.

With an incredible clutch in the 17th round, Petr "fame" Bolyshev stopped NAVI from defusing the bomb in time, but NAVI pulled one back in response, taking a 10-8 lead on Mirage.

With the crowd behind them, NAVI took down the 19th round in style and converted a VP save for match point. VP kept the pressure on A site and got a win in the 21st round, but NAVI didn't allow a comeback, winning the 22nd round, and Mirage 13-9.

With the win, NAVI eliminated VP from the tournament and claimed a spot at the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 grand finale taking place on Sunday, 16 June 2024! The final boss for NAVI? An on-form Spirit...
