Many Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) fans believe that the younger the player, the better, as reflexes might go down with age, and even more believe that around 30 years of age, you cannot realistically compete in S-Tier events against the young guns. Well, time and time again, Finn "karrigan" Andersen and Håvard "rain" Nygaard are proving age really is just a number, as FaZe Clan overcame Cloud9 in Group C of BLAST Premier Fall Groups.
FaZe Clan picked up Cloud9's map pick of Dust2 in the opening match of Group C with a score of 13-10, but it could have gone either way. After replaying the 3rd round of Dust2 in my head over and over again, I think Håvard "rain" Nygaard damaged Cloud9's ego quite a bit with a powerful ace (killing all five enemy players in a single round).
Håvard "rain" Nygaard picked up his first kill in mid defense, then one on catwalk. As Cloud9 stacked A-long and moved back through doors, a perfect lurk from the Norwegian star got him all three remaining kills and, importantly, kept all five alive for FaZe Clan.
After FaZe Clan won Dust2, Cloud9 responded with a solid 13-7 win on Inferno to force a third and final map. It was on Mirage that Danish IGL Finn "karrigan" Andersen pulled off a high-impact 4v1 clutch to secure the 8th round and tie up the score 4-4.
FaZe Clan went on to win Mirage in overtime with a 16-14 score. While Robin "ropz" Kool topped the scoreboard for FaZe Clan, the old guard showed that they should never be underestimated.
