G2 Reverse Sweeps FaZe as malbsMd⁠ Shines | BLAST Fall Groups 2024

Following the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, G2 Esports added Guatemalan rifler Mario "malbsMd" Samayoam alongside a Polish veteran, Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski, to its roster. With the rostermania changes set, there was some doubt about how well G2 Esports would perform at BLAST Fall Groups 2024 since teams generally take some time to synergize perfectly.

Well, G2 Esports kicked off BLAST Fall Groups 2024 with a clean 2-0 over NIP and, on Day 4, pulled off a big upset, reverse-sweeping an on-form FaZe Clan 2-1 to make it to the grand final of Group C.

G2 Esports took the opening pistol round on their map pick of Ancient, but it wasn't that great of a start, as FaZe Clan's Norwegian rifler Håvard "rain" Nygaard shocked with a beautiful four kills in the second round during a B site defense.

FaZe Clan pulled ahead a bit, and while G2 picked up nine rounds in total on Ancient, they just couldn't get it over the line. With FaZe Clan winning G2's map pick 13-9, there was little hope for Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's side...or so we thought.

On FaZe Clan's map pick, Nuke, G2 came alive on the CT side in the first half, going up 2-0 before FaZe's first full buy. That's where Mario "malbsMd" Samayoam made the difference, breaking FaZe's economy with a massive four kills on the B site defense with the MP9, scoring a tonne of cash in the process.

This incredible four kills with the MP9 was the round that propelled G2 Esports to a commanding 9-3 lead in the first half and allowed them to finish off Nuke with a 13-6 score to tie the series 1-1.

malbsMd didn't stop there, as he pulled off an incredible two headshot kills with the DEAGLE while under the effects of flashbang at insane angles. Check out the slow-motion replay below.

G2 Esports then finished off FaZe Clan on the third map, Mirage, with another 13-6 victory after a powerful CT side opening, completing the reverse sweep and sending FaZe Clan to the lower bracket of Group C.

In the lower bracket, NIP took down Cloud9, also with a reverse sweep, to keep themselves alive. G2 Esports now awaits the winner of FaZe vs. NIP in the Group C final to see who will qualify for the BLAST Fall Final 2024 event.
