At the Forum Copenhagen venue in Denmark, the first playoff match of the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 between Team Spirit and G2 Esports took place on 27 September 2024, and sparks flew between the top-tier Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports teams.
G2 Esports managed to reverse-sweep FaZe Clan in Group A but then fell to an on-form NAVI in the Winners Match, while Team Spirit got stunned by Team Liquid in Group B, then survived Astralis in a narrow 2-1 victory to get to this point in the competition.

In the opening map (Spirit's map pick of Dust2), it was a back-and-forth affair in the first half, with G2 on the CT side and Spirit on the T side.
As teams switched sides in the second half, teams again traded blows until the 17th and 18th rounds, as G2 pulled off two clutches in a row to take the lead and damage Spirit's economy to the point of a full eco.
The play from Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's with a hero AK was, for me, one of the best so far at BLAST Fall Final 2024, which you can watch below.
G2 converted against the pistol and continued to damage Team Spirit, giving them very little to work with. In the 21st round with G2 Esports on map point, Spirit got an early kill, and despite a good response from G2, Spirit shut them down on the A site.
In the 22nd round, it was G2's Guatemalan Entry Fragger, Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, who pulled off an ace to close out Dust2 with a score of 13-9.
On G2 Esports' map pick (Mirage), the Snax-led side started as Terrorists and scored the Pistol Round win with another four kills from malbsMd, as well as a conversion in the next round. In the first gun round, however, Team Spirit bounced back and then converted, tying up the score 2-2.
Team Spirit managed the pull ahead a bit and damaged G2 Esports' economy enough that an eco was needed, locking in an early 5-3 lead. In the 9th round, G2 bounced back with an excellent execution on the B side to close the gap. Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov's men didn't give G2 room to breathe, however, and quickly retaliated and extended their lead. At the end of the 1st half of Mirage, the score was 8-4 in the favor of Spirit.
On the T side of Mirage, Team Spirit took the Pistol Round relatively cleanly and converted with a bomb plant for a 10-4 lead and a solid economic advantage. In an intense rifle round, G2 Esports pulled one back in the 15th, and Spirit responded as the second half became incredibly intense.
A huge 18th round for G2 Esports broke Spirit's economy after a force buy, and G2 closed the gap further with a shaky conversion. Twenty rounds deep, and Team Spirit had a meager 11-8 lead.
Despite very close rounds, G2 Esports pulled off multiple wins in a row before Team Spirit found map point in the 22nd round. By the skin of their teeth, G2 pulled back two rounds in a row to force overtime on Mirage.
G2 Esports pushed Team Spirit to their limits and won 16-13 in overtime, with Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov pulling off some ridiculous AWP shots to secure the 2-0 victory.
With the win, G2 Esports advances to the semifinals of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 and will face Team Vitality on Saturday, 28 September 2024. Team Spirit is sent packing.
