CS2 at the Esports World Cup began on July 17, 2024, with the first three matches of the Opening Stage taking place all at the same time. We saw FaZe Clan face off against FlyQuest, G2 against The MongolZ, and MOUZ take on Sashi Esport.

The Opening Stage will also see the likes of Team Spirit face off against MIBR, Team Vitality against M80, and NAVI take on Furia.

But every participating team will be duking it out in the Opening Stage at some point today, hoping to secure their path to the Playoffs. As it stands, both FaZe Clan and G2 have already locked in their spot.

In a close call against FlyQuest, FaZe Clan took their wins on FlyQuest pick Anubis and home territory Nuke. G2 also felt the heat in their match against The MongolZ, though eventually walked away with a 2 : 0 victory.

Both games were a best of three format with the victors walking away with 2 : 0 wins.

The losing teams will still have a chance to prove themselves in the Losers Bracket, set to take place on Thursday, July 18, 2024. The top teams in CS2 will be fighting for their share of a $1,000,000 prize pool, as well as their place in history as the champions of the first ever Esports World Cup CS2 tournament.
