The Group Stage is played in a triple-elimination format, where each group has eight teams, and all matches are best-of-three. At the start of Group A matches, we already had some drama, with HEROIC losing to NIP because one of their players used inadvertently used Snap Tap.
In Group A, NAVI made quick work of the opposition to top the group, with Turkish powerhouse Eternal Fire in second place. FaZe Clan made it through the mid-bracket, and HEROIC bounced back to reverse sweep NIP and then beat Sangal Esports 2-0 to claim their spot in the ESL Pro League Season 20 Playoffs.
We saw Team Spirit's star rifler, Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, break a CS2 esports record in their opening match of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 20 against Wildcard Gaming, but still lost to MIBR in the next round. It was, in fact, G2 Esports that topped Group B, with MIBR in second place. Team Spirit smashed their way through the mid-bracket to claim a spot, while TheMongolZ managed to secure the final Playoffs spot from Group B, beating 3DMAX in the lower bracket final.
Congratulations to the eight teams already qualified for ESL Pro League Season 20's Playoffs stage. Group C and D matches run from 10 to 15 September 2024, so there's still a lot of CS2 esports action to go!
