Are you new to Valve's tactical fps franchise, jumping into the release of Counter-Strike 2? Then you might be wondering how the game's economy works and how you can get cash to purchase weapons, grenades, kevlar vests, and utility!
This guide provides a crash course on Counter-Strike 2's economy, explaining how much cash teams get for a round win, performing certain actions, and the cash players get for killing enemies with specific weapon types, so let's "go go go!"
CS2 Cash Per Round Win Cash
Let's start with the basics first. Economy and managing your team's cash and individual player cash management is imperative to winning a match of Counter-Strike 2. Cash allows you to purchase weapons, utility, and protection (kevlar vest/helmet) each round.
In Counter-Strike 2, Valve has implemented MR12 (Max 12 Rounds Per Half) instead of 15 in CS:GO for competitive CS2, including Premier Mode, where you can earn CS Rating and climb the leaderboards.
With this in mind, let's first take a look at how much each team receives for winning a round of CS2 depending on their actions:
- Terrorists, if the bomb is detonated - $3,500 cash
- Counter-terrorists round win by defusing the bomb - $3,500 cash
- CTs or Ts if they win a round by eliminating all enemies - $3,250 cash
- CTs stops Ts from planting the bomb until the timer runs out - $3,250 cash
In the last scenario, where the time runs out, Terrorists who survive will not get any end of Round loss cash. That's why you sometimes see players sacrificing themselves before the timer runs out on the T side if there is no chance of planting the bomb.
Sidenote: The player who defuses the bomb (CT side) gets $300 cash. The player who plants the bomb (T side) gets $300 cash.
CS2 Cash Penalty for Friendly Kill
If you either try to grieve or, by accident, kill a teammate, you will receive a cash penalty, resulting in the removal of $300 cash from your bank. Furthermore, those who try to commit suicide in a match or disconnect so the enemy does not kill them will see compensation provided to the opposing team in the form of the standard kill amount of $300.
Counter-Strike 2 Cash Per Kill: All Weapon Types
If you kill an enemy, you can get some extra cash. The amount you get in a competitive CS2 match depends on your weapon type. Below, you can find the list of weapons (note some exceptions) and the cash you get for scoring a kill in CS2.
CS2 Weapon / Gun Type | Cash per kill |
Knife | $1,500 |
CZ75 Auto | $100 |
P90 | $300 |
AWP | $100 |
Rifle | $300 |
Machine Gun | $300 |
SMG | $600 |
Pistol | $300 |
Shotgun | $900 |
Grenade | $300 |
Zeus x27 | $0 |
You'll sometimes see teams go for an SMG rush to get more cash. At other times, in a light eco round, teams might just purchase some deagles and Kevlar, attempting to get some kills to build up their economy.
Round Loss Economy in CS2
Teams who lose a round of CS2 still get some cash. First off, if a team loses a pistol round, they get $1,900 cash. If they lose any round outside the pistol one (first round of a half), they get $1,400 cash.
In Counter-Strike 2, there's a loss recovery system as well. For every consecutive round a team loses, they receive an additional $500 cash on top of the $1,400 or $1,900. Check out the list below to explain what the losing team receives per consecutive round loss:
- $1,400, losing one (1) round.
- $1,900, losing two (2) rounds in a row.
- $2,400, losing three (3) rounds in a row.
- $2,900, losing four (4) rounds in a row.
- $3,400, losing five (5) or more rounds in a row.
If a team wins two rounds in a row and then starts on a losing streak, they get $1,500 after the first loss and then an additional $500 cash for each consecutive round loss up to $3,000 for four or more.
What is the Max Cash in CS2?
The maximum cash a player can have at any given time in Counter-Strike 2 is $16,000. You can't go higher than that, and any money earned while you are at $16,000 is lost if you don't spend any. We suggest buying a weapon or equipment for other teammates if they are lower on cash, so it doesn't go to waste. Remember, you can't carry over your cash when the side swap occurs after the completion of Round 12.
