With the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare v1.29 update, Infinity Ward has added a new feature called Texture Streaming on PC, as well as lower-resolution texture packs for consoles. This is in an attempt to reduce the Modern Warfare file size with roughly 25gb, giving your HDD or SSD a chance to breathe. Here's how you can reduce the Modern Warfare file size.
Modern Warfare File Size: How to reduce
By default, the lower-resolution texture packs for Operators and Weapons is enabled on consoles after you've installed the v1.29 update.
This means you don't technically need to do anything to reduce your Modern Warfare file size on consoles.
However, when you first boot up the game after installing the v1.29 update on consoles, you will receive a prompt asking you to download a high-resolution texture pack DLC.
If you accept this prompt, the high-resolution texture pack will be downloaded and installed, meaning you won't be reducing your Modern Warfare file size. You can also download and install this pack at a later day, or play without it, reducing your Modern Warfare file size by roughly 25gb.

This prompt only happens on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. There will also be an option on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One users will have to navigate to the Game Installs menu to download the high-resolution texture pack.
Texture Streaming Modern Warfare feature
Infinity Ward has also introduced a Texture Streaming feature for Modern Warfare with the v1.29 update. This is, at the time of writing, only available on PC, and helps reduce the game's file size.
This feature was developed to reduce the game's overall package size by removing certain textures rarely used or encountered by players. If players encounter an Operator or Weapon that uses a high-resolution texture, it will be streamed to the PC's cache as needed.
You can turn off Texture Streaming for Modern Warfare, and install high-resolution texture packs if you so wish. However, you can also control bandwidth usage, set a daily cap and more.
It is important to note that players with "High" graphical settings will stream high-resolution textures for Weapons and Operations, while players with "Medium" or "Low" settings on PC will remain unaffected.
If you disable Texture Streaming in the menu options, you will not be able to reduce your Modern Warfare file size on PC thanks to this feature.
