2023's Summer Game Festis just on the horizon, and fans are already gearing up for some incredibly exciting announcements. During the celebration on 8th June 2023, fans will be introduced to tons of new games from their favourite developers - and, hopefully, the revival of some beloved franchises that have been sitting idle for a while.
One project that fans are holding out for is the next entry in the Castlevania series, which has had some success lately, following multiple reports suggesting that Konami is working on a new IP. The Summer Game Fest will feature all kinds of exciting announcements, but will Castlevania make the list? Here's what we know.

Is A New Castlevania Game Going To Be At The Summer Game Fest?
Unfortunately, despite fans' hopes, there weren't any Catlevania-related announcements during the PlayStation Showcase in late May 2023. That said, fans have long been wondering when the next Castlevania game will come out or when we'll hear any info, and it's possible that it could come during the 2023 Summer Game Fest. After all, with all the leaks and rumors surrounding the game's possible revival, it's hard to imagine that we won't get an announcement of some sort soon.
Recently, news of a potential Castlevania sequel has reignited diehard players. The news about the possible upcoming game was first reported by VGC's Andy Robinson in 2021, who revealed that Konami is reportedly working on a "reimagining" of Castlevania under the trademark Project Zircon, according to Gematsu.
Konami Digital Entertainment filed a trademark for "Project Zircon" on March 7 in Japan.

The only connection between "Konami" and "zircon" I was able to find is that zircon appears as a jewel (the least valuable) in the Castlevania series.https://t.co/3DPHFySPP5pic.twitter.com/TWPXyOQo5v
Since then, multiple sources have added additional reports of a new Castlevania project, including Windows Central's Jez Corden, who rumored that Sony and Konami had struck a new deal with the Japanese studio. The deal included "Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and maybe even a new Castlevania," only Silent Hill has been confirmed to have new projects, Silent Hill f, and the Silent Hill 2 Remake, waiting in the wings for release.
As for Castlevania, news on a possible new entry has been radio silent for years after the release of Castlevania: Lord of Shadow 2 in 2014 until Robinson's original reporting broke. This revelation and Corden's initial reporting of a publishing deal between Sony and Konami may be exciting news given the recent success of the Castlevania-themed DLC for Dead Cells, Return to Castlevania.
While Konami chose not to tease the next Castlevania game at the PlayStation Showcase (if it's in the works), it's very possible that we could hear some news about it at the 2023 Summer Game Fest. We could potentially finally hear that a new game in the series is officially in the works - or, if we're really lucky, fans might even get a sneak peek at a trailer or concept art.
As most of the previous reportings have been speculative at best, we advise caution on all recent reports and rumors regarding Castlevania's possible appearance at the Summer Game Fest 2023. Until more information has been provided and confirmed by Konami, we'll endeavor to provide more news and updates once available.
