It has been some time since audiences last heard about the Netflix animated series Castlevania: Nocturne. The show, which premiered on the streaming platform last year and subsequently got greenlit for additional seasons, expands the story from the original Castlevania series, which concluded in 2021 after four seasons.
Nocturne, which follows the next generation of the Belmont bloodline, faces a unique draconic enemy of his own, for which we finally received an update regarding the show's development. Nocturne's series director, Samuel Deats, shared an update on his social media account on how far along the development process is in the second season while asking fans for support as the team wraps up the season's animation.
Immediately following Castlevania: Nocturne's first season release, Netflix ordered a second season, which very little had been shared about the forthcoming season following its official announcement. Netflix confirmed that the series had begun its production when the announcement trailer dropped, which was in October 2023, and despite not much being known about its development, Deats provided an update to his Twitter account on 12th August 2024.
We're pushing hard through the very tail end of Castlevania Nocturne season 2's animation, and the team could use a boost. What are some of your favorite moments of animation or anything at all you found visually captivating in the whole series (OG or Nocturne)?
Deats confirming that the team is at the end of the series' animation process should be great news for Castlevania fans, but the team still has some work to be done as it's likely Nocturne Season 2 will head into post-production once the animation process is completed. Another update may be on the way as Netflix's Geeked Week is scheduled for 16th September 2024, but it's just speculatory, so stay tuned for more updates for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 in the coming weeks.
