Netflix is gearing up for a massive splash on the animation front as the streamer is readying up, wooden stakes and all, for the global premiere of Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2. The animated series second season, which is set to begin streaming on 16th January 2025, promises audiences and Castlevania fans "the biggest, craziest Castlevania fight scene ever," according to showrunner Kevin Kolde as Richter Belmont and his "reenergized team" embark in a race against time to prevent the world from plunging into a state of "endless darkness."
The streamer had recently released a new trailer for the upcoming season, ahead of its global premiere, with a new key art poster accompanying it. This key art poster for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 was shared online by series director Samuel Deats as Richter Belmont teams up with the son of Dracula, Alucard, who plays a pivotal role in the upcoming season.
The brand new trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 dropped across Netflix's social media accounts and over on their YouTube channel on 13th January 2025, which was noted to coincide with the year's first full moon, The Wolf Moon. While the trailer didn't appear to feature any wolves, it did showcase the major characters involved in this epic fantasy saga that follows Richter Belmont along with his "band of vampire hunters," who are now joined by the ever-presence of Alucard.
According to information from the announcement post on Netflix's TUDUM site, "Season 2 wanders the French countryside between Machecoul and Paris, but there’s an occasional new location: Egypt. Alucard’s research into Sekhmet has taken him to an ancient Egyptian temple, and we were flown there a few times,” stated showrunner Clive Bradley.
Castlevania: Nocturne is "loosely based" on and adapted from Konami's video game series that follows the lineage of the Belmont bloodline's epic and bloody clashes against the dark vampiric forces. This overarching storyline has been depicted in the Castlevania series across four seasons between 2017 and 2021 before Nocturne picks up the story set around 300 years following the original series.
