Warzone Season 4 Reloaded promises plenty of mid-season tuning like every major update before it, but the promise of a Serpentine Perk nerf could have an impact on the overall meta. The perk has always been controversial and it was only a matter of time before changes were introduced.
Raven Software released the latest patch notes for Warzone Season 4 Reloaded that display all of the tuning players can expect in Caldera or Fortune's Keep. They confirmed that the Serpentine Perk nerf would be coming soon in an important update shortly after the mid-season launch.
Warzone Season 4 Reloaded - Serpentine Perk Nerf
After Warzone Season 4 launches, the Serpentine Perk nerf will include a change to the overall reduction in damage that it provides. As of this writing, the total reduction is 20% but it will reduce to 15% after the next update goes live and brings some tuning. That could be just enough for new weapons to break into the meta.
The perk in question was introduced well before Warzone Season 4. It was part of an initial season update in Call of Duty: Vanguard that experimented with some new perk options that would shake up loadouts. This perk would allow players to reduce their incoming damage as long as they were sprinting.

Of course, this made it more difficult to take a fast-moving target down and it had repercussions for weapons like sniper rifles. Along with later buffs to the overall health in Caldera and Rebirth, the game was more difficult than ever. To some, this is a good way to increase the skill floor. To others, there are far too many defensive buffs.
It seems like Raven Software agrees, and mobile players will certainly experience a change in the way they move around the map. Some snipers could become more deadly with just enough of a damage buff to land those critical one-shot kills.
With all the weapon tuning in the Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update, and without the Serpentine perk update, it's hard to tell exactly how the meta may shift. Having a 5% reduction in defense could be massive, or it could be just under what is required for widespread change. The numbers need to be tested.
For those who are still annoyed by the perk, the Frangible Weapon Perk is a counter. When you make contact with an enemy, each shot will slow them down and it can compensate for the defense by allowing you to land another shot. But this may not be necessary after the next couple of weeks pass in Caldera.
