Gearbox Software announced they'll be hosting a presentation with PlayStation for their next State of Play event. This was a surprise announcement for the developer, who recently announced on social media that players can expect to learn more about their upcoming release, Borderlands 4.
The developer had already revealed new changes regarding its release date, in which they moved its release to September 2025. Nevertheless, they haven't shown much information regarding the State of Play presentation other than its starting date and time and what type of footage players can anticipate.
Gearbox Software Creative Director Graeme Timmins announced in an official post for the PlayStation Blog that the studio will receive a standalone State of Play presentation "to share the nitty-gritty details" for their looter shooter action game, Borderlands 4. The Borderlands 4 State of Play presentation will broadcast live on PlayStation's Twitch and YouTube channels on 30th April 2025 at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 9 pm UTC, in which the presentation is expected to have a 20-minute runtime.
According to Timmins, "In this upcoming State of Play, strap in with me and Anthony Nicholson, Senior Project Producer, for over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay, including missions, killer weapons, exciting Action Skills, new and returning characters, and more." Gearbox had already unveiled the official key art for Borderlands 4, which had its release date moved from 23rd September 2025 to 12th September 2025.
Pre-order information will likely be announced at some point, whether during the State of Play presentation or in the following weeks, but interested players can Wishlist the game to be alerted of the latest news and updates. In the meantime, set a date for this upcoming presentation and get ready to acquaint themselves with all "the explosive action, fearsome enemies, and powerful loot" that awaits them in Borderlands 4.
