The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Is The Highest-Rated Game In Five Years On Metacritic

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the much-hyped sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is currently the highest-rated game in five years on Metacritic, along with the highest-rated game of all time on OpenCritic.

On Metacritic, only four games are ranked higher than the title:

• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (99)
• Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (98)
• Grand Theft Auto IV (98)
• SoulCalibur (98)

Tears of the Kingdom is quite possibly one of the most hyped games of the year, if not the entire decade so far. Breath of the Wild is considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time, so it has a high bar to clear, but judging from reviews so far it's managing to hit that.

In other Zelda news, it turns out that the co-creator of Twin Peaks actually worked on The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, consulting on the title and giving ideas out to the team.
