As reported by Mike Straw, a source familiar with the title claimed that 2K would hold an event in San Antonio, Texas, on 28th January, the day of the WWE Royal Rumble, to give fans their first full look at the upcoming game.
WWE 2K games have been a staple among wrestling fans for years. The series has seen great success in sales and critical acclaim, with previous titles receiving generally positive reviews from fans and critics. For example, the latest title, WWE 2K22, was considered a "big leap forward for the series after developers fixed the slew of bugs in preceding titles. 23rd January 2023 Update: According to BusinessWire, 2K announced WWE 2K23 featuring John Cena on the game's cover art, and is scheduled for the global release of its Deluxe and Icon Editions on 14th March 2023. The Standard and Cross-Gen Editions are expected to launch on 17 March 2023.
The event in San Antonio will reportedly feature hands-on gameplay, details on this year's 2K showcase with "select matches," and the announcement of a new game mode. But that's not all, because more information about the upcoming title will be released on 1 February. Although it hasn't been confirmed exactly what will be announced, it is expected to include more information not shown during the reveal in San Antonio.
As indicated through a leak on Twitter, WWE 2K23 is expected to launch on 17 March 2023, though console availability is not yet confirmed. It is speculated to be available on PC as well as both last-gen and current-gen consoles, that is, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Though details on the game have been scarce, it has been reported that the developers and management are "really happy" with how the game is progressing.
