Cross-platform play or crossplay is a feature that has been included in many EA titles over the years and will be added in upcoming releases like EA Sports FC 24. Nevertheless, crossplay has been a part of previous games developed by Codemasters, including GRID and F1 2023, so naturally, players have wondered if the same can be said for EA Sports WRC.
If you want to go head-to-head with fellow drivers or friends online, you would be interested to know if crossplay is available at launch. This guide has all the details regarding crossplay and whether it will be supported in EA Sports WRC.
Is EA Sports WRC Supporting Crossplay?
As this feature, along with many other notable features like accessibility options, controller support, and cross-progression, have become popular within the gaming community, those who’ve pre-ordered or are looking to get a copy will want to take note. EA and Codemasters have confirmed that crossplay will be supported in EA Sports WRC at launch on 3rd November 2023 and is a centerpiece of their multiplayer modes.
This entails that players, regardless of whether they’re playing on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, can join lobbies and play with other drivers and friends in multiplayer lobbies. These lobbies can hold a maximum of 32 players competing against each other for pole position and, of course, the fastest lap time on various tracks.
Additionally, these multiplayer lobbies can play host to player-created tournaments through the Clubs feature, which lets drivers race worldwide on multiple surfaces, at various locations, and at any time of day. This is powered by the EA racing companion app, EA Racenet, which aims at creating a competitive experience for players online and the wider WRC community.
Lastly, additional features allow players to build close bonds with the competitive sport in-game further to enhance the multiplayer aspects of EA Sports WRC. These will include the Builder mode, which lets them create their custom-built rally car and can be used in multiplayer modes, and Moments, which lets them recreate iconic moments from FIA’s 60-year history in-game.
Players who’ve pre-ordered EA Sports WRC can play the game three days before launch through its Early Access period. EA Sports WRC will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 3rd November 2023.
