Codemasters' upcoming racing game, EA Sports WRC, will place players inside a rally car, allowing them to compete against friends and online players to dominate the off-roading scene. As the game has been built using the Unreal Engine, the team took advantage of bringing realistic details in map design and the cars featured in-game.
This comes to light in one of the brand new modes, the Builder mode, where players swap out their racing gear to build a uniquely designed rally car. So, if you wish to learn more about this car-building gameplay mode, we've provided an explainer guide on how it works in EA Sports WRC.
EA Sports WRC Builder Mode: What Is The New Game Mode?
Developer Codemasters provided information and gameplay footage of one of its new game modes, Builder. Not to be confused with a similarly named game mode for Forza Motorsport, this mode purely places its emphasis on building the best dream rally car possible.
This building mode allows players to select from one of three default rally cars the developer named in their recent Car List post: the WRC Builder Car, the WRC2 Builder Car, and the Junior WRC Builder Car. By selecting their preferred rally car, players can custom-build it to real-world competitive specifications similar to those featured in the FIA World Rally Championship.

These rally cars, once built, can compete in various rally races and tournaments depending on their class categories: Rally 1, Rally 2, and Junior WRC classes. Nevertheless, once players have selected a vehicle, they'll be guided through a tutorial to help them better understand the Builder mode and the various features they'll utilize when designing their dream rally car.
Players can choose from a handful of Builder categories to add mechanical and cosmetic parts to their car when building their rally car. According to a developer post, these include Body Shells, Chassis Placement, Interior and Exterior Customization, Livery Creator, and mechanical parts like the brakes, electrical system, exhaust system, suspension, and more.
Once their rally car has been fully built and customized to their preference, players can bring it out to the testing race tracks, where they can drive the vehicle and test its performance. This period allows them to make various adjustments and switch out parts to maximize the car's power and performance.
Additionally, with progression, players can unlock more performance and cosmetics for their rally car and perform upgrades and repairs to their vehicle following races and tournaments, likely using some form of in-game currency. Most importantly, they can use their custom-built rally car in online multiplayer and various other gaming modes, depending on the class type selected when starting the Builder mode.
Players who have pre-ordered EA Sports WRC can play the game three days before launch through its Early Access period. The game will also be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the EA Windows app, Epic Games Store, and Steam on 3rd November 2023.
