Wo Long Fallen Dynasty Morale Rank System, Explained

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an action RPG in the veins of Dark Souls and sprinkles of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It is, however, also looking to be a solid evolution of Team Ninja's previous titles.

Nioh games have a ton of underlying gameplay mechanics that makes them both challenging and rewarding. As such, it's no surprise that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is also riddled with many complex mechanics, understanding which is necessary to get better at the game. One such important mechanic of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is its Morale system. Here's everything you need to know about it.

Wo Long Fallen Dynasty's Morality Rank System, Explained

The morale system in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is basically a leveling system with additional bits and pieces. You and every enemy in the game have a Morale Rank. The enemies with higher Morale Ranks are more dangerous and deal the most damage, whereas the ones with lower Moral Ranks are less threatening.

You can increase your Morale Rank by eliminating other enemies and raising a battle flag. Raising battle flags in areas will also increase your Fortitude Rank.

Every time you die, your character's Morale Rank will drop, whereas the Morale Rank of the enemy that killed you will increase. The good thing is that your Morale Rank will never drop below your Fortitude Rank. For example, if you die with a Morale rank of 12 and a Fortitude rank of 10, you will come back with a Morale Rank of 10. Makes sense?

There are also smaller Marking Flags, and raising them will increase your Fortitude Rank. The number of Morale points you gain on the battlefield will depend on the number of Battle Flags and Marking Flags you raise.

You will need Morale Ranks to cast Wizardry Spell. These are elemental ranged attacks that cost Spirit. Every Wizardry Spell requires a particular Morale rank to cast. Additionally, your Morale Rank will reset every time you enter a new battlefield/region, which means you will have to increase them again to cast spells.

There are also ways to decrease every enemy's Morale in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Dealing a Fatal strike to an enemy via stealth or when their Spirit Gauge is drained out will decrease their Morale Rank. Alternatively, your character's Morale Rank will go down by 1 when hit by a Critical Blow.

And that's everything you need to know about the Morale system in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. As you can see, it's necessary to understand the Morality system to get better at the game.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty arrives for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Series X/S on 3rd March 2023.
