A few weeks have passed since the launch of League of Legends: Wild Rift in different regions around the world, where novice and veteran players have been able to experiment with the newest instalment from Riot Games, on mobile devices.
This has been leveraged by teams and players to further develop their metagame, discover the best compositions overall, learn about available champions, and much more.
Next, we will talk about one of the most recent champions to arrive in Wild Rift, who is well known for having an arsenal that makes him very elusive and unpredictable, becoming a key piece for ambushes: Wukong, the Monkey King.
Wukong: His active and passive skills

With his passive ability, Stone Skin, Wukong gains additional armour and health regen, which accumulate with nearby enemies and monsters.
Let's move on to his active skills:
- Crushing Blow: Your next attack will gain additional range and damage, as well as reducing the target's armour for a few seconds.
- Warrior Trickster: Wukong turns invisible, moving in one direction and leaving behind a clone that will attack nearby enemies.
- Nimbus Strike: When activated, it will move you towards an enemy, attacking all nearby targets along the way.
- Ultimate - Cyclone: Wukong will extend his staff and spin him repeatedly, in addition to gaining movement speed. Enemies hit by the staff take damage and will be thrown into the air.
Recommended Runes and Spells for Wukong
Wukong is a champion famous for his precise harassment and his way of deceiving the opponent thanks to his set of skills, which being high impact, these manage to leave the opponent without much response when meeting him in some situation. These are his recommended runes:
- Conqueror: Grants bonus attack damage through stacks, for each basic attack or ability that hits the enemy.
- Brutal: Grants bonus attack damage and armour penetration.
- Spirit Walker: Grants additional health and slow resistance.
- Hunter - Genius: Grants additional cooldown reduction for each unique takedown.

Being one of the strongest picks right now for the top lane, his summoner spells focus on mobility and offence.
- Flash: Allows you to have more options to enter combat, in addition to serving as an escape tool.
- Ignite: Use it as a tool to finish off enemies in case they want to escape with low health.
Likewise, it will be normal to find players who take Wukong as a jungle, so it will be usual to take him with Smite instead of Ignite for these cases.
The best items for Wukong

The composition of objects is thought to cover two points: Scaling his offensive side from the beginning of the game, making him a tough opponent to kill; and give him greater resilience in the game by strengthening his defences and increasing his HP.
- Black Cleaver: Grants bonus health and damage, as well as drastically reducing enemy armour with each attack or skill damage.
- Death’s Dance: Grants life, damage, physical vampirism, and its Cauterize passive converts a portion of the damage taken into delayed damage, giving you more room to fight multiple champions.
- Guardian Angel: Gives you a second chance thanks to its revival. A prime tool in case the enemy jungler or mid laner has the upper hand.
Now, depending on the composition of the enemy team, you can complete his composition of objects with these variants:
- Physical Damage: Ninja Tabi with Stasis Enchant, Sterak's Gage, and Randuin's Omen or Mortal Reminder.
- Magic Damage: Mercury's Treads with Stasis Enchant, Maw of Malmortius, and Adaptive Helm.
Tips for Wukong’s play style

Released in July 2011, Wukong is well known for being a champion focused primarily on melee attacks, as are most champions in the Baron lane. His abilities allow him to easily rotate to other lines and charge at the enemy without them being able to respond.
From the beginning of the game, your objective will be to complicate the game for your opponent, managing to damage them little by little with his Nimbus Strike every time they want to collect some gold with your minions. Good lane control with Wukong can give you a great advantage heading into the mid-game.
His simplest combo will be to use Nimbus Strike, followed by Crushing Blow, in order to hit the opponent with a good amount of power and make them fall back and spend their life potions. However, take good care of the thrusts you make when you besiege your opponent in lane, putting wards on the side, or the enemy jungle could prepare a surprise for you.

As we mentioned several times, Wukong stands out for being elusive, something that is shown in his Warrior Trickster skill, which will be your escape and repositioning tool in case your attack plan does not turn out as you expected, or you are unexpectedly surrounded by enemies.
For the latter case, and in turn for team fights, always keep your Cyclone ready, since, in addition to providing a good amount of damage to those around you and feeding your Conqueror rune, it allows you to combine certain skills of your allies thanks to its airdrop.
Finally, Wukong can become a fun champion for newbies and veteran players, thanks to his simple, but exciting skills, so we recommend you practice it either as a laner or as a jungle, to know both sides of the Monkey King and see which one is more suited to your style.
