Justin Leeper, a former writer of Road To WrestleMania modes in several WWE games, brought some bad news earlier this week.
In his video, which you can watch below, he says: "I've heard from reliable sources and truly believe that WWE 2K22 has been cancelled."
2K usually announce new WWE game with a trailer around WrestleMania time, and now it's more than a week past the event, and still no announcement.
Leeper says that he wanted to wait for 2K to officially announce that WWE 2k21 has been cancelled, but since that's still not happening, he decided to say that himself.
He also added that this is a good thing, and he might be right about that since last year's WWE 2K20 was one the worst WWE games in the history, full of bugs, glitches, unfinished and unpolished elements, and all in all a big hot mess. People were already proposing that would actually be a good thing for the series to make a one year pause and come back in 2021 with WWE 2K21.
Leeper says that back in December, he was told that it's 50/50 if we're getting a new WWE game or not, then in January they were assuring him that the new game is well on its way, but now the latest info he got is that the game is absolutely cancelled
In the second part of the video, he said that there's some good news for the fans of wrestling games. He claims 2K will bring another WWE game, in development by another Studio, that it will be "a different kind of WWE", and that it's coming this year, for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
