Every now and then some new horror game appears that seems to have the potential to be a next big hit of the genre, new Amnesia or new Outlast.
Good horror games are rare and most really on some cheap tricks or established patterns to try and scare players, without any real substance.
Those Who Remain at the first look don't look particularly original, but we horror fans are not really in a position to choose much, given the drought in the genre. And it does look decent enough to at least be considered a solid Silent Hill close, which is enough for me.
"Edward had a good life, a beautiful wife and the perfect little girl, yet finds himself several whiskeys down and driving through the night of Dormont to end his secret affair - in a bid to fix his mistakes," says in the description. "As Edward pulls into the Golden Oak Motel, he is unaware just how much this night will change his lifeâ¦
The horrors and darkness that thrive in the corner of every eye are torn looseâ¦"
The main gimmick of the game is to stay in the light by any means and to manipulate with it in order to clear the way for further progress and your safety.
Another key point of the game is that the player will need to move between the city of Dormont and a strange alternate reality to solve puzzles, all while trying not to get killed by various monstrosities.
Developers promise immersive atmosphere, narrative-driven gameplay, a lot to explore and discover, but will it be like that? We will find out in three weeks.
The latest trailer for the game shows us what can we expect and reveals the release date - 28 May 2020. The trailer looks good, but the music is kinda off, especially for the game that presents itself as a psychological horror.
