Sony Interactive Entertainment has recently presented a massive change in one of its main subscription services. Beginning in June, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation are now merged and set to provide more choices to subscribers.
There will be multiple tiers of subscription options for players to take up, with different levels offering different perks. Follow along for all the new PlayStation Plus information including price and benefits for Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers.
When will PlayStation Plus release?
Since the introduction of PlayStation Plus back in 2010, there were no significant changes in the plans and offerings. With the launch of the new PlayStation Plus in June, there will be three separate tiers, Essential, Extra, and Premium focusing on popular games.
Initially, the newly introduced tiers will add Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. Interestingly, the subscribers of PlayStation Now will be able to transfer the membership into the new PlayStation Plus at no extra cost during the launch period.

According to the official news, the subscription will be rolling out in June. At first, Sony plans to release it in Asia, North America, and Europe. Gradually, the subscription will be up in the rest of the regions by the end of the first half of 2022.
Pricing and benefits - PlayStation Plus tiers
As mentioned, PlayStation Plus will have three different tiers in total, including Essential, Extra, and Premium. There is also the Deluxe tier for those regions where cloud streaming is not available at the moment. However, Sony is actively working to roll out the feature quickly enough.

PlayStation Plus Essential
The benefits will be the same as today and it is free of cost for the existing subscribers at the moment. It includes:

This is set to be the top tier of the subscriptions as it includes all the benefits from the above two tiers along with some additional features.

- A catalog of beloved classic games available in both streaming and download options from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations
- Offers cloud streaming access for original PlayStation, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games offered in the Extra and Premium tiers in markets where PlayStation Now is currently available. Customers can stream games using PS4 and PS5 consoles, and PC
- Time-limited game trials will also be offered in this tier, so customers can try select games before they buy

PlayStation Plus Deluxe (Select Markets)
As of now, the Deluxe subscription has no pricing from Sony but will vary by market. It will add a collection of titles from PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations which will be available to download with time-limited game trials.
