Players who remember the iconic mobile gaming series Dumb Ways to Die and its equally popular catchy tune that has remained ingrained in our minds are returning to the scene in a new outing. This time around, the haphazard beans that often put themselves in grave danger are making their way to a new platform: virtual reality (VR).
Developer PlaySide Studios is teaming up with Meta to bring these rather unfortunate characters to VR in a new game, Dumb Ways: Free for All. According to an official blog post from Meta, players will once again get "up close and personal" with these 'loveable, colorful Beans" this November.
Dumb Ways: Free for All is the latest outing for these clumsy Beans, which starts at an airport, and what could possibly go wrong at an airport, one may ask? Well, almost anything could happen, as players can experience this holiday-themed game solo or with five friends as they navigate "a mostly safe vacation destination," completing unique yet hazardous challenges and mini-games.
As you work your way through various challenges, you’ll earn valuable coins that can be spent updating your Bean’s look at the airport’s Duty-Free kiosk. Frequent flyers with the travel bug will unlock more playlists, opening up more opportunities to travel to new and exciting (but not dumb) destinations!
So, if players are looking to reignite their memories of this colorful, haphazard crew of this beloved gaming franchise, Dumb Ways: Free for All is launching exclusively for the Meta Quest platform, which the Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, and Meta Quest Pro are confirmed to be the supported VR headsets. Players and VR gamers can add this game to their Wishlist which Dumb Ways: Free for All releases on 7th November 2024, for which their holiday shenanigans will continue with two free post-launch updates in December 2024 and January 2025, arriving to their tropical destination.
