Tencent Games, the conglomerate behind Riot Games and Epic Games, has unveiled its latest project, Light of Motiram. While the inspiration from Horizon Forbidden West is unmistakable, the game introduces unique features and gameplay mechanics by blending elements from Horizon and Palworld. Let’s dive into the details based on what we know so far.
Tencent Games And Polaris Quest Unveils Light of Motiram, a Unique Fusion of Horizon and Palworld
According to the game's official Steam page, "In a world dominated by colossal machines, explore an expansive open world, build a base of operations, advance technology, train Mechanimals, and face powerful bosses. Starting from a primitive era, chart a new course for progress. Challenge the machines, survive with Mechanimals."
From this and the trailer (linked below), we understand that Light of Motiram is an open-world survival crafting game set in a post-apocalyptic world where technology and nature are intertwined (reminiscent of Horizon Zero Dawn and its mechanical creatures).
Players will also capture, tame, and train creatures for both combat and support (similar to Palworld) and can do so with other players in a multiplayer/co-op mode (though more details on that to come). The game itself takes place in a sci-fi post-apocalyptic world with diverse biomes, including tropical rainforests, desolate deserts, and snowy mountains, all populated by mechanical beasts.
A freeform building system powered by realistic physics allows players to construct everything from fortified strongholds to creative shelters while managing environmental challenges. Characters can dodge, block, and attack with a range of weapons, including massive two-handed hammers and tamed Mechanimals can assist in battle.
Speaking of Mechanimals, there are over 100 customizable creatures that can be tamed and trained to serve as both combat partners and production aids. Each Mechanimal has unique abilities and growth potential, and through customization, players can unlock exclusive battle modes and traits, making them powerful allies in the game's tough world.
No release date has been set for the game yet, but the developers confirmed that Light of Motiram will be available exclusively on PC via Steam and Epic Games. Stay tuned for more updates—we’ll keep you informed as new details about the game emerge!
