Tactical turn-based RPG King's Bounty II, the long-awaited sequel to the legendary King’s Bounty franchise, is finally releasing this summer, to the delight of RPG fans.
Being one of the most iconic series in the genre of turn-based RPGs, fans are having big expectations from King's Bounty II.
The sequel will expand on the beloved formula of the series, and bring a number of new features, gameplay mechanics, and lore elements, including a completely new story, fractions, enemies, and more. And all that in a new engine made from scratch to fit the need of a sequel.
Let's check out all you need to know about King's Bounty II before the release.
King's Bounty II story, characters, and setting
King's Bounty II is set in the same fantasy world Antara like other games in the series, but it will tell a brand new story with new locations, characters, and more.
Unlike previous games in the series, King's Bounty II will offer a more cinematic experience, with a character-driven story.
"Darkness descends over the kingdom of Nostria. Conspiracies, sabotage, and necromancy are overshadowing the country. But maybe a saviour – the kingdom's last hope – is already here, to fight back and finally restore peace and order in Nostria," says the official description of the game's story.
The kingdom is in total chaos, and it seems that everything is falling apart, as counties are demanding independence, bandits roam the roads, and all the overseas nations have denied the king’s authority over them.
On top of that, all kinds of monsters are plaguing the kingdom and preying on innocent inhabitants.
King's Bounty II gameplay and features
With all that chaos described above, a difficult task to restore order and peace across the kingdom has fallen on us. We will play as one of three main heroes, who will embark on a journey "of leadership, survival, and sacrifice."
Those three main characters are Katharine the Mage, Aivar the Warrior, and Elisa the Paladin.
As with the previous games, we will build, recruit, and upgrade our army along the way and make countless strategic choices in order to make the best possible combination of units.
Then, with the army we've gathered, we will travel across the open world of Antara, explore its diverse regions and unearth its many hidden places.
Asides from an enormous amount of unique units with their stats, abilities, and passives, the environment and landscape will play an important role in your battles, and you will need to adjust your strategy accordingly, as diverse terrain types are directly impacting the battlefield.
