After a few delays, Dying Light 2 Stay Human is finally launching this February and it will offer players over 500 hours of gameplay, but only if you are ready to play the game multiple times to uncover all the areas and see all the possible endings.
With such a huge amount of content, Dying Light 2 will offer players something to have fun with for months, especially if they have friends who also like the game, as it has been confirmed that the co-op action is back in the sequel.
The original Dying Light from 2015 featured a four-player co-op mode, and fans of the original will be happy to hear that they will be able to play Dying Light 2's campaign in co-op almost completely, with just the prologue being single-player-only.
And while this is certainly great news, the question remains if you will be able to play Dying Light 2 in local couch co-op or if co-op is only available online?
Is Dying Light 2 split-screen co-op?
In Dying Light 2, the co-op mode is always initiated by a host player, with the other three players joining the session.
Guest players will play the host's version of the world and story up to that point, but the awesome part is that all four players as a team will be able to vote and make big decisions together while playing as a squad.
Another great feature is that all progress of your character and items that your earn during your stay in someone's else game, you will be able to keep and transfer to your single-player story once you leave and return to your own game.
It's crystal clear that developers are aware of how beloved the co-op mode is, thus they are bringing all these cool perks to enrich the co-op experience.
But since the dawn of gaming, the best way to play the game with friends was in the same room in front of a big TV, and unfortunately, you will not be able to do that here, as it has been confirmed that Dying Light 2 doesn't have split-screen local co-op support.
It seems that this undesirable trend continues, as we've seen other major co-op games over the last year also released without split-screen modes, such as Back 4 Blood, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and most recently Rainbow Six Extraction.
So there you have it, Dying Light 2 has only an online co-op mode, while local split-screen co-op is not supported.
