As of April 26, 2024, Discord has reported problems with users being unable to connect to voice chat, specifically showing an "Awaiting Endpoint" message when attempting to join a voice channel. According to Discord's status updates, the issue began around 10:54 AM PDT and has been identified as stemming from a recent update to their "voice server syncer" service.
These are the official status updates from Discord:
Resolved: The issue is now resolved. Thank you for your patience and happy Friday Gaming!
Monitoring: We implemented a fix and are seeing some recovery for part of our traffic. We think more and more people should be able to connect to voice in the next 10-15min.
Isolated: We've isolated the issue to a deployment of new code of our "voice server syncer" service. We're currently in the process of doing a rollback, and as well, provisioning more capacity on these machines.
Investigating: We are investigating an issue connecting to Voice, manifesting as "Awaiting Endpoint" when joining a voice channel.
How To Fix Discord Voice "Awaiting Endpoint" Connection Issue
Currently, the best course of action is to wait for Discord to resolve the issue. The problem is server-side, meaning there is nothing wrong with your computer or network settings. Discord’s team is aware of the issue and is actively working to fix it by rolling back the recent update and scaling up server capacity.
You can keep an eye on Discord’s official status page or their X feed for real-time updates. This will be your best source of information for the latest developments. Importantly, users should avoid repeated connection attempts. Continuously trying to connect to voice channels during this time may lead to further complications.
While it can be frustrating to encounter such disruptions, please rest assured that Discord is doing everything possible to restore normal service. In the meantime, you might want to consider an alternative program—chuck your friends into a Google Meet, Skype, or TeamSpeak call (LOL).
